Form ladder, Gold Coast Suns, chances of playing finals, run home, fixture, Stuart Dew contract

Gold Coast Suns has snuck under the radar to become the form team of the competition in the last six weeks.

The Suns on Sunday recorded a 43-point win over Adelaide Crows, returning from their mid-season bye in style.

It leaves Stuart Dew’s side just one win outside of the top eight and sets up a huge clash with Port Adelaide next week as both sides look to jump up the ladder.

On Fox Footy’s First Crack, former St Kilda star Leigh Montagna worked through the form ladder from the last six games, which sees the Suns on top with five wins and a percentage of over 154 per cent.

“We’ve got to look at facts and say it’s hard to argue that they’re not (the form team of the competition),” he said.

“They’ve played some solid teams in there. They’ve got some really good form behind them. They’re the little sleeper.

“Look at their percentage (154.3% in the last six weeks), that is another true indication of how well they’re going.

“Then Geelong, Richmond, Western Bulldogs, teams we probably thought at the start of the year were going to be around the mark that have just been building slowly.”

Just two games now separate first from ninth on the ladder.

The Suns have the third-easiest run home in the competition.
