Fan favorites return to The Block NZ. Left to right: Maree and James, Chloe and Ben, Quinn and Ben, Stacy and Adam.
The Block NZ is back and this time it’s a redemption season, with a few familiar faces in the mix.
The latest contestants taking part in the new season of the Block NZ: Redemption were revealed on Sunday.
Four teams have been announced, made up of former contestants who missed out on the win the first time around.
Returning for 2022 are two teams from 2014’s third season, Quinn and Ben Alexandre, and Maree and James Steele. Stacy and Adam Middleton from season 8 will return, and Chloe Hes and Ben Speedy, former “neighbours” from season 7 are also set to join forces in a renovation battle for redemption.

Team Orange – Quinn and Ben Alexandre
The 2014 season of The Block NZ resulted in a pretty disastrous showing for Quinn and Ben Alexandre. Quinn’s new pregnancy meant she could not cope with the smell of paint – not ideal for a renovation show. The couple made it through the entire season without a single room win. It is something they are hoping to change in 2022.
Team Yellow – Maree and James Steele
Also from season 3, Maree and James Steele were new to the reno game when they appeared on screens in 2014. They left the show with a tidy profit, but without the major win. They are back in 2022 in an attempt to rectify that.
Team Blue – Chloe Hes and Ben Speedy
While in 2018, Chloe Hes and Ben Speedy were competitors, they have joined forces for 2022. Hes had a tumultuous first showing on the Block NZ and finished fourth with only a small profit for her weeks of work. She has teamed up with her ex-Block neighbor Speedy for the upcoming season.
Team Purple – Stacy and Adam Middleton
Finally, Stacy and Adam Middleton designed their way to the most room reveal wins in 2019, but wound up walking away with nothing on auction day. Being the team with the most recent on-screen design experience, plus a known ability to win room reveals, the Middleton’s, at least on paper, may seem to have the upper hand for season 10.
Host Mark Richardson will be retuning to host the 2022 season of the home renovation show, where teams spend 12 weeks renovating a home in the hopes of winning the most profit at auction.
“It’s great to see some familiar faces back to have another go,” he said.
“While this year’s contestants have some reno-wrongs to right… it’s evident that nothing, even experience, really prepares you for this show.”
Having first aired in 2012, The Block NZ’s 10th year will see original judge Jason Bonham return after taking a season off. He will be joined by former co-presenter and interior designer Shelley Ferguson.
